π Certification & continuing education
AAMA’s current renewal promotion remains active through December 31, 2026.
Current AAMA members who renew between July 1 and December 31 receive free access to a 2-CEU course on:
“Prior Authorizations and Documentation: What Medical Assistants Need to Know.”
AAMA certification & professional resources
Today’s Wellstar listings also reinforce how valuable having multiple clinical skills can be: phlebotomy, EKGs, injections, specimen collection and basic diagnostic testing appear in current requirements.
π Scrubs & medical-equipment deals
A current healthcare-worker discount roundup continues to list 15% off a first FIGS order for eligible new customers, alongside other healthcare-worker offers.
Another important retail development: Scrubs & Beyond is reportedly closing its 115+ U.S. physical stores, which could push more medical-uniform shopping toward online retailers.
π° Healthcare news relevant to Medical Assistants
A major workforce story this week is the WHO’s warning that the world could face an 11.1 million healthcare-worker shortage by 2030, driven partly by aging populations and an aging healthcare workforce.
While this is global, the workforce issue is directly relevant to MAs: healthcare organizations will need to make better use of the entire care team and invest in training and retention.
π³ Georgia’s rural-health investment
Georgia’s GREAT Health program is particularly relevant. The state has committed more than $218 million in Year 1, including funding for rural healthcare workforce development and technology-enabled care.
And a recent Amerigroup Georgia initiative has already reached 61 provider locations across 54 rural communities, focusing on barriers such as transportation, health literacy, digital access and Medicaid eligibility disruptions.
